This contemporary pendant features a hand-stamped traditional Japanese Asanoha pattern. The Asanoha pattern is a beloved motif in Japanese fabrics and sashiko embroidery. Resembling hemp leaves, the pattern symbolizes healthy growth, vitality, resilience, and protection from misfortune. Because of this association, Asanoha was traditionally used on babies’ and children’s clothing and kimonos as a wish for a child to grow strong and upright.
